state campgrounds in iowa - camping and hiking made easy

Combining rock, snow, and ice climbing with hiking and sometimes camping, and it is understandable why it is such a timeless sport. For many people, summer is just not summer without taking a weekend camping or hiking trip.

There are more than a few good reasons to enjoy a good camping trip. One of the reasons many people starting getting into the great outdoors is to get some physical activity. It is better to hike in the cool of the mornings and evenings.

We camped on the west coast of British Columbia, as well as many years on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. Dressing warmly is obviously a major issue. Favorite fruits and veggies that pack well include carrot sticks, celery, raw broccoli and raw cauliflower.

You will also not want to forget the flashlights for times where you will be going off and venturing away from your car. You could sneak in there before everyone else did, and pretend it was your own little home. Be aware that the glass globe of all gas and propane lanterns get extremely hot and can give you a serious burn.

When winter camping make sure to bring food that may be eaten without heating up. Experienced hikers can offer good advice on boots as they have probably tried a few pairs throughout the years.
